Brighton

During the week I spent in London with my friends, we wanted to take a trip to Brighton and meet our long-time Flickr friend Lauren. She gave us a wonderful tour of the colorful, quaint tranquility that characterizes this beachside town.

Lauren in her dorm room. She has to be one of the nicest people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. (If you're reading this, I hope we can reunite soon, Lauren!)

This clock tower was randomly covered with countless shirts tied together by the sleeves. ~lol #art~

Berlin: Part 1

After leaving London in the morning on May 2nd and returning to Paris, we didn't linger for long: a few hours later, we were at the airport ready to fly to Berlin. (As such, I was technically in three countries in the span of less than a day. That is one of the beauties of traveling in a continent made up of countries so different from yet so relatively close to one another.)

Visiting Berlin was immediately a joy when we stepped into the apartment we were renting for 3 days. If you plan on traveling, keep Airbnb in mind: they have great private apartments available and if you're traveling in a group, it can often run you under the cost of even a hostel, with far superior conditions.

(Ignore my messy bed.)

And of course, the food was phenomenal. Eve, our friend and resident Berliner (who had spent her semester studying there) took us to the "Turkish Markets", which were full of some of the freshest, juiciest fruits and the most filling pastries and desserts I had ever tasted (including the delicious rhubarb pie shown below). We settled ourselves down on the ground and had an impromptu picnic before taking a stroll through the colorful streets of the city. The wonder of Berlin lies in its youthful, fresh vibe coupled with its artistic and historical significance and quiet, natural beauty.
